What is GEASA?

The "Groupe d'entraide alimentaire du secteur Aylmer" has for mission to improve the security for low-income people, by putting in place community projects to mobilize the population and counter food insecurity in the Aylmer sector.

There is food security when the whole population has access at all times and in complete dignity, to a sufficient and nutritious supply of food at a reasonable and acceptable price, on a social and cultural point of view.

Power to make adequate purchases;
- Access to simple and reliable information on healthy eating to be able to make a well informed choice;

There is, on the other hand, food insecurity when:

- We lack certain foods,
- We are scared to run out, or
- We have to settle for lower nutritional quality foods that affect our diet.

These restrictions affect the nutritional diet's quality. In Quebec, poverty and unstable employment are the main factors in food insecurity.
